Types of memory cards for digital cameras and other devices

SD (Secure Digital) memory cards are the latest generation memory devices that offer an incredible combination of high storage capacity, fast data transfer rates, great flexibility and excellent security in a memory card about the size of a postage stamp! Based on nonvolatile memory components and encased in a protective moulding they do not require power to retain the information stored on them. Since they are based on solid-state components they have no moving parts to skip or break down making them highly reliable.

The miniSD™ memory card offers all of the benefits of a standard SD card, but in a much smaller size. It is over 60% smaller than a standard sized SD card. The miniSD™ cards are used to store digital images, video, MP3 files and other data in mobile phones. The miniSD™ card includes an adapter that converts the miniSD card into a full size SD, which then allows the miniSD™ card to be used in a full sized SD slot.

The Reduced Size MultimediaCard is a small, removable flash memory card used in mobile phones for the storage of data, including images, video and music. An adaptor is included which allows compatability with other devices with full size MultiMedia based slots.
